A Fiber-to-the-Curb System Based on Subcarrier Multiplexing and Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Lines

چکیده
A fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC) system using subcarrier multiplexing on the optical fiber and asymmetric digital subscriber lines (ADSL) on the unshielded twisted-pair is proposed to deliver broadband services. In contrast to the current ADSL based FTTC approaches, the digital multiplexing/demultiplexing process is moved back to the central office by using subcarrier multiplexing in fiber transmission. The local node simply down-converts the subcarrier multiplexed ADSL transmission signal to a baseband signal, suitable to send directly into the twistedpair. In this hybrid-fiber/twisted-pair (HFTP) architecture, instead of installing in remote node, ADSL transceivers are installed at the central office to greatly reduce the remote node complexity. The reducing of complexity could result in lower initial installation cost, especially for a low service penetration rate. The maintenance and operation cost can also be reduced.

Performance Analysis of Hermite-Symmetric Subcarrier Coding for OFDM Systems over Fading Channels
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has great advantages such as high spectrum efficiency and robustness against multipath fading. In order to enhance the advantages, an Hermitesymmetric subcarrier coding for OFDM, which is used for transmission systems like the asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) and multiband OFDM in ultra-wideband (UWB) communications, is very attractive....
متن کاملWhen Does Unequal Power-loading Make Sense?
In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) unequal power-loading, i.e. water-filling, is used to selectively assign power to each subcarrier, thus maximizing the capacity for a fixed power-budget. Unequal power-loading is used successfully in applications such as digital subscriber lines (DSL), where the channel effectively acts as a time-invariant low-pass filter. In such conditions,...

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques that transmit signals through multiple carriers. These carriers (subcarriers) have different frequencies and they are orthogonal to each other. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing techniques have been applied in both wired and wireless communications, such as the asymmetric digital s...
